Fresh Green Bean Casserole with Mushrooms

Green Bean Casserole is a staple at Thanksgiving tables everywhere—its creamy sauce and crunchy fried onions are a comforting reminder of home and holiday.

Start by sautéing the sliced mushrooms in butter with a chopped onion and minced garlic in an oven-proof skillet.

Step 3

When the mushrooms and onions are tender and starting to brown, add flour and mix well. Heat while stirring gently, then add a cup of heavy cream.  Stir gently and add salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4

Add the steamed or blanched green beans and mix well.

Step 5

Top with French fried onions and bake for 20-25 minutes at 350ºF or until heated through and the onions are starting to brown.
