Step 1

Brown the ground beef with the chopped onion - you can also use ground elk, venison, or lamb for a delicious variation

Step 2

Prepare the brown gravy as directed

Step 3

Add the prepared brown gravy, mixed vegetables, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne, salt, and pepper to beef & onion

Step 4

The vegetables and beef in the rich tomato sauce makes the base for Shepherd's Pie. Spread this mixture in the bottom of a baking dish.

Step 5

Mix the garlic salt and half of the shredded cheddar cheese with the mashed potatoes (save the other half of the cheese for topping).

Step 6

Drop spoonsful of the potato and cheese mixture on top of the meat mixture and spread so that it is fully covered

Step 7

Sprinkle the top of the potatoes with the remaining cheese and bake the Shepherd's Pie for 25 minutes at 400ºF. You may freeze before baking.
